Otsego Community Foundation earns statewide recognition
The Excellence in Philanthropy Award honors individuals, businesses, and nonprofits across Michigan who go above and beyond in service, volunteerism, and philanthropy.

What’s happening: The Otsego Community Foundation will be awarded the Excellence in Philanthropy Award at the upcoming 2025 Governor’s Service Awards. The foundation is among a dozen honorees from across the state being honored for their outstanding commitment to volunteerism, service, and philanthropy.
About the foundation: Founded in 1994, the Otsego Community Foundation manages charitable funds to support local causes. The organization has more than $12 million in assets and more than $6.7 million awarded in grants and scholarships. The foundation has become a trusted partner in addressing Otsego County’s most pressing needs and promising opportunities — from supporting education, conservation, and youth initiatives to advancing housing solutions and coordinated human services. The foundation played a critical role in helping the community recover from the 2022 tornado and the 2023 ice storm, offering financial aid, coordinating resources, and supporting long-term recovery efforts.
What they’re saying: “The Award ceremony will be an intimate evening to celebrate the power of volunteerism,” said Michigan Community Service Commission Executive Director Ginna Holmes. “The level of selfless giving these Michiganders show should be an inspiration to us all. We are excited to tell their stories and show their passion to make a difference.”
What’s next: The award will be presented at the 2025 Governor’s Service Awards on Nov. 12 at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing. The award is presented by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Community Service Commission.
