Looking to encourage emerging developers to build new housing in the state's rural communities, the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan is launching its first-ever Real Estate Development Boot Camp.
“This project converts a vacant, blighted industrial site along the Bear River to much needed housing for Petoskey and Emmet County," says Petoskey City Manager Shane Horn.
“Murals on Main will be an incredible source of inspiration and beauty in Rogers City,” says MEDC Regional Prosperity Managing Director Paula Holtz.
For the first time, BIPOC farmers in West Michigan will be able to apply for a grant through the West Michigan Farmers of Color Land Fund to help them buy, maintain, and improve agricultural land.
“Due to Venture’s continued commitment to the community, more affordable housing options will be available for the residents of Owosso and to those who want to make Owosso their new home,” says Owosso Mayor Robert J. Teich Jr.
“With the SARE funds coming to Michigan, it will help the grape industry see first-hand how new approaches can help meet grower and winemaker needs in our climate,” says entomology researcher Dr. Rufus Isaacs of Michigan State University.
The Marquette Greenway will connect New Buffalo in southwestern Michigan to Chicago. The 60-mile pathway will follow the Lake Michigan shoreline and connect to lakefront amenities.
The nearly 60-mile non-motorized trail will eventually connect southwest Michigan to Calumet Park in Chicago.
“This study showcases the critical importance of the outdoor recreation industry in Northwest Michigan, as well as its potential for further business opportunity,” says Janie McNabb, CEO, Networks Northwest. “These recommendations underscore the need to work collaboratively for the benefit of both our economy and our natural resources.”
With an unstable winter of little snow, Cadillac tourism officials found other ways to promote outdoor recreation and help businesses that thrive on a winter economy.
