Hospitality company doubles capacity at its West Michigan glamping grounds
The Fields of Michigan opened in 2019, offering glamping sites, or luxury camping, by way of tents and cottages on a 30-acre working blueberry farm outside of South Haven.

What’s happening: Less than a year following the acquisition of a western Michigan blueberry farm and glamping destination, Under Canvas has announced plans to double capacity and unveil a series of improvements in time for the 2026 glamping season. The Montana-based upscale outdoor hospitality company first acquired The Fields of Michigan in April 2025.
What it is: The Fields of Michigan opened in 2019, offering glamping sites, or luxury camping, by way of tents and cottages on a 30-acre working blueberry farm outside of South Haven.
What to expect: Under Canvas has expanded glamping capacity at its only Michigan property, adding 26 new upscale tents as it increases its total capacity to 45 tents and nine cottages. The company bills the accommodations as a blend of mid-century modern design and the Michigan wilderness. Additional improvements include redesigned communal hubs, which include “The Willow” for social settings and “The Outpost” for outdoor activities, upgraded kitchen facilities and dining schedules, and a new retail experience.
Who’s behind it: Based in Belgrade, Montana, Under Canvas operates more than a dozen upscale outdoor hospitality sites throughout the country, and largely in the American West. Sites are often near National Parks, with its Michigan property a rare exception.
What they’re saying: “The expansion of The Fields of Michigan reflects Under Canvas’s ongoing commitment to its guests and the growing demand for increased capacity across the Outdoor Collection,” says Sean Rush, Chief Operating Officer for Under Canvas. “This next phase allows us to thoughtfully expand accommodations and communal spaces, while staying true to the immersive design, sense of calm, and deep connection to nature that define both The Fields of Michigan and Under Canvas.”
The Fields of Michigan is located at 154 68th St. in South Haven.
