The newest addition to the Bridge to Bay Trail, the pedestrian bridge over the Black River Canal, was officially commemorated on Wednesday, June 7, during a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony held in Fort Gratiot.
Ludington State Park continues to make the sprawling recreation area along Lake Michigan accessible to everyone. Its newest feature is an accessible water trail, which begins at an accessible ramp. It's another way for those with mobility issues to enjoy some of the park's many amenities.
Grants fund completion of trail between Gladwin and Beaverton, and a new campground, too.

As the first woman elected to the Michigan House of Representatives – and the first Native American woman to serve in any state legislature – she paved the way for so many women, including me, to hold public office,” Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow said.

“Our ORV trails not only are used year-round, they fill an important recreation need in the spring and fall that don’t rely on perfect weather conditions,” says Kathy Morin, executive director of the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau.
Rebuilding the Village of Sanford Park has been no small task. Rather than just reconstructing what was there, the village has seized the opportunity to build additional features.
“This will be a social gathering place for people of all ages in our community while their dogs enjoy some healthy play time together,” says Liz Mahaney, chairperson of the Suttons Bay Dog Park Ambassadors.
As it’s envisioned, the North Bank Trail will be an 18 mile-long non-motorized pathway that connects Spring Lake Village to the Fred Meijer Pioneer Trail.
Once the site of several mines, Ironwood's Miners Memorial Heritage Park is now home to a network of trails, inviting outdoors fun and history lessons in one setting.
