Score Canvas takes first place and audience choice award at TCNewTech
Score Canvas won both First Place and the Audience Choice awards at the TCNewTech pitch competition, securing $5,500 for its video game music education platform, while parent organization 20Fathoms announced Stacey Feeley as its new Executive Director to lead its growing BlueTech initiatives.
What’s happening: Score Canvas, an edtech platform designed to teach the craft of video game music composition, won the First Place Award and the Audience Choice Award in the recent TCNewTech pitch competition. The startup won an award of $5,000 for first place and $500 for the audience choice selection.
About Score Canvas: The pitch was presented by Ted Kocher. Video games are a $200 billion industry — bigger than music and movies combined — and the music behind them is a real, full-time job that almost no music school teaches. Score Canvas removes cost and other barriers, making the career more accsssible. It is a web browser, a curriculum, and a textbook in one product — and the schools that adopt it can teach this on day one.
In other news: 20Fathoms also announced its new Executive Director, Stacey Feeley, a serial entrepreneur, strategist, and trailblazer with more than two decades of experience launching, scaling, and leading purpose-driven companies. As co-founder and CEO of GoSili, Inc., Feeley built a global consumer products brand anchored in Traverse City, growing it through strategic partnerships, multiple funding rounds, and two successful acquisitions. She joins the organization at a pivotal time for the growing local BlueTech industry.
About TCNewTech: A program of 20Fathoms, TCNewTech is a recurring pitch competition supported by tech enthusiasts, businesses, and entrepreneurs. Founded in 2015 as a way to connect local tech professionals, TCNewTech is a critical component in Traverse City’s growing startup community. Since its founding 10 years ago, 275 companies have pitched at TCNewTech and more than $85,000 has been awarded.
