This classic Northern Michigan brewery to open third location in Traverse City as part of big redevelopment plans
The approximately 16,000-square-foot space will be reconfigured to host Short’s Brewing as the anchor tenant, featuring the company’s array of award-winning craft beer as well as dedicated space for food, live music, and events.

What’s happening: The eastern section of Logan’s Landing – approximately 16,000 square feet of it – will soon be revived as part of a new partnership fermented in Northern Michigan. Short’s Brewing and Keen Energy have partnered under the newly formed South Boardman Lake District LLC to purchase and redevelop the Traverse City property, recently announcing plans for a mixed-use development that incorporates craft brews, events, and more.
Backstory: Tim Pulliam and Steve Morse, co-owners of the Traverse City-based energy efficiency and renewable integration firm Keen Energy Inc., have been behind the initial push to redevelop Logan’s, eventually landing the ownership team at Short’s Brewing in nearby Bellaire.
Double vision: “Tim and I have known each other for a long time and we’ve talked about working together,” says Joe Short, founder and owner of Short’s Brewing. “Recently, I’ve been joining mountain bike rides where he talks about the trails, city, and how the Boardman loop is this hub for connection and community. Logan’s Landing is right in the middle of it! It seems we’ve got a soft spot for rickety buildings with lots of potential…twenty five years ago I peered into the windows of an old hardware store in Bellaire and could envision the Pub. A few months ago, I did it again at Logan’s and could imagine how the space would look and feel as a Short’s Brewing Company space on the water.”
What’s planned: The approximately 16,000-square-foot space will be reconfigured to host Short’s Brewing as the anchor tenant, featuring the company’s array of award-winning craft beer as well as dedicated space for food, live music, and events. The Short’s location, the company’s third, could be open as soon as April 2027. While further plans are yet to be released, it has been announced that Vincent Amroian, the previous owner of the building, will keep his Vince’s Fine Jewelers located at Logan’s Landing.
What they’re saying: “We were looking for the right partners to take on a project this crazy,” says Tim Pulliam, partner at Keen Energy. “Joe and Scott are very tenacious business partners, are heavily invested in the area, and are known for making the impossible happen. We share the same vision of community and see this as a real opportunity to make something great.”
